PLAYER NEWS:
--F Chris Bosh won a recent bet with former Raptors teammate Charlie Villanueva to see who could reach 50,000 Twitter followers first. It was a close race, with Villanueva only about 500 behind when Bosh got to 50,000. In losing the bet, Villanueva, who played with Bosh on the Raptors in 2005-06 and is now with Detroit, must play a character of Bosh's choosing in a YouTube video put together by Bosh. --G Jarrett Jack was a college teammate of Toronto star Chris Bosh at Georgia Tech in 2002-03. However, Bosh didn't initially believe Jack when Jack told him that he would be signing an offer sheet as a restricted free agent with the Raptors last month.
"Chris actually thought I was playing a prank on him, thought I was lying to him," said Jack, who joined the Raptors after Indiana did not match the offer sheet. "The next day it hit the media, and he was excited."
--G Antoine Wright could begin next season as Toronto's starting shooting guard if rookie DeMar DeRozan isn't immediately ready. The Raptors also have G Jarrett Jack, but he is a combo guard who might settle into the role of being Jose Calderon's primary backup at point guard and also spelling the starting shooting guard. Wright, acquired in July from Dallas, does have a decent amount of starting experience. He logged 53 starts last season for the Mavericks, and has 86 in four NBA seasons.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Kris Humphries (broken fibula) has been cleared to begin working out fully.
--G Marcus Banks (toe) is back working out after having surgery.
DRAFT PICK:
--DeMar DeRozan, G, 6-6, USC -- Raptors really like his upside. He's a great athlete who has a chance to blossom. But he must work on his shooting and on becoming stronger.
